Babolat NCT Tour

The NCT Tour is Babolat's newest Nano Carbon Technology (NCT) frame. This 'tweener offers excellent power, spin potential with a lighter weight, just over 10.25 ounces. Babolat places a nanotube from the 3 - 9 o'clock position to the top of the handle. This single walled nanotube increases the stiffness and saves weight, which is precisely what Baolat was attempting to accomplish.

The NCT is best suited for players looking for a lighter, standard length mid-plus racquet that offers abundant power coupled with superior maneuverability. This racquet is also very well suited for smaller framed players, juniors transitioning into a adult frame or for players looking to customize their frames to their ideal weight and balance.

The Tour is well suited for players with faster longer strokes and rewards them with solid performance, very good spin potential thanks to the 16 x 18 string pattern and low swingweight (301). The racquet is very solid at the net with good power to keep the volleys deep.

We also found the racquet pretty arm friendly for such a stiff frame (70 RDC).

Other Racquets to Consider

Racquet Technologies

Woofer Grommet System: According to Babolat the Woofer System is the first dynamic system which makes the frame and the strings interact when the ball strikes the strings. Prior to the Woofer System a tennis racquet is a frame with strings. The Woofer System is designed to optimize the frame and string interaction by permitting all the strings to work together to their full potential when contact the ball. There are two function component to the Woofer System the Pulley Function and the Piston Function.

The Pulley Function eliminates string lock-up: the strings are free to move. The whole surface reacts on impact, more strings work together when the ball strikes the strings. This increases the sweetspot and absorbs much of the shock produced during ball impact.

The Piston Function increases the trampoline effect. The piston function enables greater surface deformation on impact, delivering extra power and ensuring the strings retain their energy for a longer time. The piston function also acts like a suspension system to dampen vibration.

Nano Carbon Technology (NCT): NCT racquets integrate state-of-the-art material (Carbon Nonotubes™) with a unique beam design. Nano tubes are designed to enhance performance while increasing rigidity and reduccing overall weight, more power. Nanotechnology is the study and working with materials on the scale of the atom: the technology of molecular engineering. Carbo Nonotubes™ are 10 times more rigid than graphite making it an ideal material for inclusion in racquet fabrication. extremely resistant and highly reactive, it provides increase power, without sacrificing weight nor playing sensation.
