About our Services | Frequent Stringing Program | Stringing Equipment

SRS carries a complete line of string from the following companies:

Babolat | Head | LaserFibre | Luxilon | Prince | Tecnifibre | Wilson | Völkl

To many tennis businesses, stringing a racquet is no big deal!
Simply follow the manufacturer’s stringing instructions and move onto the next racquet. Unfortunately, many stringers do not even manufacturer’s requirements, resulting in damage to the racquet without any warranty recourse.

At SRS, this has never been nor will it ever be acceptable. Most recreational players need a combination of control and power for that reason we utilize a propriority 2-piece stringing technique that works on all racquets at all tensions. For players seeking maximum control, we employ a one-piece stringing technique, that is used for many of the pros (maximum control), this technique produces the tighest possible stringbed at any given tension.

Proportional Stringing. Proportional stringing refers to changing the tension on each string, so that each string receives a adjusted tension, based upon the change in length in relation to the longest main string or cross string. Shoter strings tensioned to the same tension as longer strings will be tighter. The goal of proportional stringing is to reduce the tension on the shorter strings so the relative tightness of each string is the same. This allows  the stringbed to respond more consistently which optimizes stringbed deflection accross the face of the racquet. If you are interested in proportional stringing contact us for additional information.

Hybrid Stringing. Hyrid stringing uses a different type of string for the mains and crosses. This technique has found much favor with players on the pro circuit and has proven quite popular with players of all abilitiy levels. Hybrids can range from using the same type of string in two different gauges for the mains and crosses, to mixing natural gut and a synthetic, or mixing a stiffer sting for the mains and a softer string for the crosses to any combination imaginable. If you have any questions feel free to c ontact us to discuss your specific requirements.

Personalized String Selection. We match the type of string, string gauge, and string composition to the individual players needs and/or requirements and their particular racquet. In many cases a "packaged" string is not in the player's best interest. We select strings based upon individual playing styles and needs.

Regardless of your ability, you will know that you will get a consistent response, no matter where you contact the ball. Tension is consistent throughout the entire frame. A SRS stringing is better for your racquet than many other stringing methods. By carefully managing how the strings are tensioned, a SRS stringing protects the frame against premature breakage or fatigue. We pay close attention to every aspect of stringing from initial inspection to the last “tie-off.”

The unfortunate reality is that each stringer and machine are different. Every stringer strings slightly different than every one else. At the recreational level, most players notice the difference between stringers. While most of us are not making a living at tennis, SRS realizes how important stringing and racquet preparation came be to our clients and for that reason we strive to make every stringing the best. Our clients are assured of absolute consistency from one racquet stringing to the next.

SRS' Racquet Services
    to top

SRS’ racquet stringing services includes frame cleaning and preparation, inspection for cracks and other potential frame problems, individual grommet replacement, when necessary, handle inspection, and frame measurements at eight locations prior to and after stringing. All strings are cleaned to remove excessive oil and dirt for more consistent tension and are inspected for flaws and diameters are checked. All cross string are lubricated prior to stringing to reduce the likelihood of “notching” or “burning” the strings.

SRS utilizes the finest stringing equipment available to ensure consistent and reproducible results every time. Babolat’s Sensor Expert and Star IV electronic stringing machines offer the most consistent, accurate, and true tension available. Both machines incorporate state of the art constant pull drives that provide unsurpassed accuracy and reliability. The machine’s calibration is checked every 10th stringing and the clamps are cleaned every 5th stringing. The Babolat Racquet Diagnostic Center (RDC) offers the leading edge in racquet diagnostics to measure racquet specifications. The RDC is the most sophisticated multi-task diagnostic equipment currently available. The RDC measures various racquet specifications including stringbed stiffness, racquet flex, racquet weight and balance, and can track tension loss over time making it possible to determine the remaining energy of any string.

All racquets undergo a ten-cycle measurement, including weight & balance, two stringbed stiffness measurements, frame stiffness (unstrung & strung), swingweight, static moment, twist and recoil rate values for power, maneuverability and control. These measurements are generated from the only Babolat Racquet Diagnosis Computer (RDC) in the state. These measurements allow me to tract the performance of the racquet and strings.

Frequent Stringing Program
to top

SRS has instituted a two-tier pricing system. The first pricing option is our complete service offering all the features that have been enumerated above including our Frequent Stringing Program, which gives the 11th at no charge. The second pricing option is a basic stringing, without any of the features listed above. Price saving will range from $3 - $5 dollars per stringing. The FSP is not included with this second option. You will get our best stringing without the extras; additionally your racquet could be strung by any of our racquet techs. With the first option, only Chip will string your racquet.

Chip Brenn is a charter member of the United States Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA) and a Master Racquet Technician (MRT). There are only 600 MRT's worldwide. He is the only MRT in Albuquerque plus the New Mexico Certified Tester for the USRSA.
